Susannah Tucker & her pretty pictures ...

So i figured you guys need something pretty to look at that isn't well mine ... & so i want to share the world of one of my favourite {yes she is one of my favourites ... hehehe i feel like i'm back in school} etsy photographers ... & friend's. Well the kind of friendship that comes from being two photographers half way across the globe from each other. In fact we are taking part in a fun 52 week instagram diptych project based on the fact we are on opposite ends of the world!

Anyways yes i know you are all wondering who this fabulous photographer is ... Well her name is Susannah Tucker & her work is beautiful! I have been a little in awe of her photography for a long time & with the somewhat blah weather we are having right now I am sat here looking at her beautiful new work wishing I was in New Zealand.

Susannah's work has such an incredible dream like quality ... every child hood memory you have stored up in your brain can be seen through her images. I just want to jump into her images ... there is nothing about them you cannot love. The tones are so peaceful & calming & her use of textures is so subtle half the time i don't even notice them. But then that's the way it should be right?

She also has a way with words ... knowing exactly what to match with each image ... i think i could decorate my whole house with her work.

a wonderful instagram series ... leaves me dreaming of summer ...

... beautiful simplicity ...

... & the perfect ending!

I feel so lucky to know such inspirational photographers ... one day we will shoot together! But for the moment i will just drool from afar & spend many an afternoon browsing her etsy store!

cambridge in the fog ...

Ok where were we ... oh yes ... fog ... England ... nature ... & a road trip to Cambridge. Yesterday i attempted to share a whole host of pretty pictures ... but well i failed with my ability to babble & go off on tangents. So today I am taking you on a trip down to Cambridge, one foggy morning in March ... (& way less talking this time i promise) ...

I grew up in Cambridge & whilst i knew it was a beautiful city I believe i took it for granted. Now having returned to England I have 3 or 4 years to explore my homeland, camera in hand & I am working incredible hard at it. Not everyone gets the chance to see the world, travel & walk away with beautiful reminders so i feel as if this is something I have to do. & so often we want the blue skies & the pretty clouds, we forget that beauty isn't necessarily found in those things. So keeping this in mind, a morning spent wandering through a fog filled Cambridge sounded wonderful. & well it was ...

Literally just off the bus I decided to dart onto Christ Piece & saw this beautiful moment ... like something out of Narnia ... oh by the way i should mention now all these images were captured using my Lensbaby Composer Pro & Edge 80 optic.

pretty rain drops seen out the corner of my eye ...

Christ College ...

senate house passage ...

one of those moments you come across that leaves you in awe ...

& just as stunning in colour ...

& the epitome of all things Cambridge.

Cambridge is one of those cities that has a timeless feel ... so much history, it could almost be 1913 instead of 2013.

Ok enough photos for one day (though honestly can you ever get enough) ... I must get back to doing something my husband considers "productive". Have a wonderful day ... & remember that whilst we all get the winter blues you may be surprised some days, so don't think about it before grabbing your camera & heading out because beautiful can be found everywhere!

one foggy morning ...

There are certain things i have grown to love since we made the move back to "blighty" in October ... sticky toffee pudding has become a rather unfortunate stable in our house {but it tastes so good ... we'll just ignore the calorie intake for a moment} ... John Lewis {it's a shoppers paradise but oh so dangerous on the bank account} ... & the morning fog.

I was introduced to the fog by a friend of mine & incredible talented photographer Sasha Holloway of Bleulips ... she takes these incredible portraits in the fog & whilst i am currently not shooting portraits i knew the fog was something I needed to photograph {not want but needed}. So through the winter i spent many a morning capturing the fog.

Well a couple of weeks back I woke up to this beautiful fog ... the kind that sees your eyes light up in the morning. A fog that makes you want to jump in your car & just explore the countryside Camera in hand. Well I made the decision to head to Cambridge that day to try & get the fog in the city on camera.  So bundling Jacob up in the car I first had to make a trip to base ... a trip that {as usual} took 20 minutes longer because i got distracted along the way (but well if you know me that isn't exactly hard).

This tree sits in a field by the side of the road ... un assuming ... i first noticed it in December because of the way the morning light hits the field & have since returned to it time & again. This time i had my "trusty" Lensbaby Composer Pro & Edge 80 to keep me company.

I then made it a whole 100m further down the road before stopping by a local river, the same moody feel capturing my attention. There is something special about England in the fog, I can't explain it but it feels like they go hand in hand, it reminds me of a Jane Austen or Charles Dickens book. Don't get me wrong I adore a beautiful blue sky but this has so much emotion to it, a story waiting to be told. & Well personally the Lensbaby just add that little extra something.

Well having managed to success babble on longer than i intended I will leave you for today ... & post the rest of my photos from Cambridge on the blog later today or maybe tomorrow. I haven't decided.

But before i go let me ask you this ... what is it about where you live that always "gets you" ... turns something ordinary into that something special? Something that goes perfectly with the place you {currently} call home?
